Upgrading to Coupons+ 3: A Step-by-Step Guide
Welcome to the next generation of WooCommerce offers and the beta for Coupons+ 3.0. We’ve spent the last two years completely rebuilding the plugin from the ground up to be faster, more powerful and much more intuitive to use.
The centerpiece of this upgrade is a brand new, tree-based, intuitive visual offers builder that we know you’re going to love. This migration guide is for those upgrading from Coupons+ versions 2.x and bellow.
To ensure a smooth upgrade for everyone, we will provide full support during this transition, even if your support license has expired
Why is the structure changing?
To make this new version possible, we’ve restructured Coupons+ into a new, more powerful modular system: a core engine (Coupons+ for WooCommerce) and the professional add-on (Coupons+ Pro).
The Coupon URLs extension has also been upgraded! To make it more robust and easier for you to manage, it is now a standalone plugin that connects directly to the official WordPress.org update system. For you, this means a much better experience: you’ll now receive automatic update notifications and can install and update the extension with a single click from your dashboard, just like your other plugins.
All your existing coupons, data, and configurations are 100% safe and will still be there after you install the new plugins. Your existing coupons will continue to work, but all the new features are exclusively available to the new tree engine (new coupons).
Let’s get started.
The Upgrade Process
This is a simple, 4-step manual process.
Step 1: Deactivate the Old Plugins
First, we need to deactivate the current versions.
- In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
- Find Coupons+ (any version bellow 3) and Coupon URLs for WooCommerce – Extension and click Deactivate on both.

Step 2: Delete the Old Plugins
This is the most important step to ensure there are no file conflicts.
- After deactivating, the “Delete” link will appear. Click Delete on both Coupons+ and Coupon URLs for WooCommerce – Extension.
- WordPress will ask for confirmation. Click “OK.”
- Don’t worry! This process only removes the plugin files. All your valuable coupon data is stored safely in the database and will be picked up by the new version.

Step 3: Upload the New Plugins
Now, let’s install the new versions.
- Navigate to Plugins > Add New and click the Upload Plugin button.
- From the Coupons+ 3.0 (Beta) folder you downloaded, choose the coupons-plus-for-woocommerce.zip file and click “Install Now.”
- Repeat the process for the coupons-plus-pro.zip file.
Step 4: Activate and Enjoy!
- Navigate back to your main Plugins > Installed Plugins page.
- You will now see Coupons+ for WooCommerce and Coupons+ Pro.
- Activate both of them. They should look like this:

You’re all set!
That’s it! Your upgrade is complete. You can now try the new engine by adding new coupons as usual. All of your previous coupons will be there and should work with the previous version of the plugin.
